Wedding Highlights Video: Allison + Reese

When Allison heard this song, it gave her goosebumps and she knew she wanted to use it for her Wedding Day Highlights Video. And just like Allison and Reese, you can sense how sweet the two of them are together.

So thank you. Thank you for your support and encouragement to keep doing what we do. And thank you for your friendship and partnering with us as we endeavor to excel in all that we do!

We are so pumped up and even more committed to continue putting forth our best efforts and living up to our title of providing outstanding videography in Kansas City!

Wedding Highlights Video in NYC: Mijin + John

This wedding video is a very special one as Mijin is like an older sister to me. She happened to find “the one” in New York (New Jersey, actually) and wanted us to be there to capture her day!

If you have a destination wedding, you may want to consider commissioning us to film your wedding as the cost of our services with flying us out to New York and providing accommodations was comparable to hiring a local videographer in New York!

Their wedding day was beautiful, the weather was cool and the sun was out. There’s nothing like the NYC skyline and getting to film a wonderful couple! There was a lot to like about Mijin and John’s wedding from the beautiful outdoor scenery, to the great lighting in the church and reception, to the various cultural celebrations and food. But one thing was for certain: Mijin and John were surrounded by friends and family who truly care for them and love them.

I also got to work with some great photographers: Kenny Kim from Chicago, IL and Tomas Flint from Rochester, NY.

The story behind the Pepsi-Cola sign photo: Before the ceremony, we went to take photos at the Gantry Plaza State Park in Long Island City, where the Pepsi-Cola sign (made famous by the Britney Spears Pepsi Superbowl commercial) resides. Sadly, the area where the sign is was fenced off due to construction and there was no accessible way in. Kenny, undeterred by this minor setback somehow convinced Mijin and John to hop the railing, scurry across the thin ledge, and hop back over the railing to the restricted area ;) They quickly ran in, relished in the adrenaline rush of doing something they probably weren’t supposed to do, took some pictures, and ran back out over the ledge. Definitely risky, but definitely a memorable part of their wedding day.

Congratulations, Mijin and John! And thanks for allowing us to take part in your beautiful day!

Wedding Highlights Video: Michelle + Ryan

Michelle is from Topeka, Kansas…
Ryan is from Omaha, Nebraska…
They live in Arkansas…
But what brings them together is the Jayhawks!

Michelle and Ryan got married on the beautiful South Park in downtown Lawrence, KS… right next to the fountain and butterfly garden! It was a beautiful setting and the timing of the butterflies couldn’t have been better as they fluttered around Michelle as she walked towards her husband-to-be.

Congratulations, Ryan and Michelle!

We need your help… Vote for us as Kansas City’s Best Wedding Videographer

KMBC-TV is putting together an A-List of Kansas City’s Best Businesses and we’ve been nominated under Kansas City’s Best Wedding Videographer category!

The cool thing about this contest is that the results are based on the votes submitted by people who visit the site.

So if you appreciate our films and want to be a love cat, I’d greatly appreciate you clicking on this link and putting in your vote for us… and if you’d be so kind and leave a review, that would be even more spectacular!

Best of Kansas City's A-List Nominated: Best Videographer in Kansas City

You do have to register but takes only a few seconds and they will NOT spam you.

I wouldn’t be where I am today without all of your enthusiasm and trust in my abilities and talents. And I thank you in advance for taking the time to vote and show us some love :)

Peter

Behind the Scenes with Jasmine Star

The MOST FANTASTICAL, BADDEST, AWESOMEST photographers (inside joke for those who were at the seminar), David Jay and Jasmine Star, were in Kansas City for a stop on their Free to Succeed Tour.

If you’ve been to Jasmine’s blog recently, you’ll know that she’s recently proven that she looks good even with facial hair ;)

Anyways, while she was in Kansas City and before she found out who the real culprit was, she had some ideas as to who was behind this heinous crime committed against her. (After all, she has to defend her brand, right?) At this point in time, she thought it was DJ out to spite her.

Wedding Highlights Video: Ellie + Steve

Things have been really busy and I am trying to catch up editing all these weddings! Good things come to those who wait ;)

Nevertheless, Steve couldn’t wait to marry the girl of his dreams! From the beginning of the day, Steve kept sneaking peaks of his bride-to-be and when it came time to kiss his bride, he couldn’t hold back his eagerness to seal the deal!

And the winner of the Free Wedding Film Contest is…

WOW! Thank you everyone for showing your support for these amazing couples! I had a blast reading through all the reasons of why each couple deserves to win.

There’s no doubt that every couple worked hard and you are all deserving of great things happening to you. A common thread with all of the couples is that those who know them speak of how selfless and giving they are to others. I am amazed at all the love and support that your friends and family have shown through the voting process. Know that you are loved and that there are many people who are rooting for you and wishing your success.

However, there can only be one winner and that is why I am glad that the ultimate decision was not up to me ;)

I was finally able to sort through the votes, organize them, and find the clear winner.

It seems that throughout this whole contest, there was one couple that really wanted to win this contest and utilized all their resources to rally their friends and family to support them on their mission to win this contest. This was their opportunity to help get the wedding of their dreams and they left as little to chance as they could. From the diligence and time they put into their submission to the rallying of votes from anyone and everyone they knew, this couple gave it their best shot and the results show…

So I am proud to announce that the winners of the free wedding film is…

… drumroll please…

Kim & Dorn!

Breaking of the Glass Explained

If you’ve ever been to a Jewish wedding, one of the ceremonies they have is the breaking of the glass. Aptly named because they, well… break a glass, usually a glass cup. There are many explanations for why the glass is broken and Rabbi Jacques does a very good job explaining it.

The next to last thing we do at a traditional Jewish wedding is to break something of glass. There are many explanations of why we do that. Most of them are quite depressing. They have to do with the temple in Jerusalem being destroyed… actually, that story is meant to teach you temperance.

There’s a story in the Talmud that this very wealthy rabbi’s daughter is getting married and he took this big, fancy piece of crystal and trashed it. And they said, “Why did you do that?”

They used to have week-long parties and in the middle of it, he broke it and he said, “Why? Because we should remember that the temple is destroyed. And why? To teach you temperance. That in the moment of great joy, you remember something sad so that when bad things happen, you know good things will come down the road.”

But I find that, personally, fairly depressing.

Perhaps, far more depressing, is that my brother, who is a rabbi in the land of our ancestors… south Florida, says that this symbolizes the last time you’re going to set your foot down. And yet I have seen you in action and I know that was some point around December 1999.

So I would like to leave you with an explanation that rather than being depressing is uplifting.

Here we have a glass that is one and whole. By its very nature, if you leave it alone, it will continue one and whole forever. But once you do something to it, you step on it, you radically change the nature of the glass. It becomes something it wasn’t before. It can never go back to be what it was.

So we hope that we have put together here today will never be destroyed. That we have done here has radically changed your nature.

For that to occur, you also have to remember that your relationship is like the glass: it’s fragile. You need to look after it every day and never slack off. Look after it as you would very fine crystal.

So now, two things. First of all, to all of you, the Hebrew word of the day is “Mazel Tov.” Mazel tov means congratulations. So when he steps on it, you say, “Mazel Tov.”

And for you, Chris, it’s very very very bad luck to step on the rabbi’s hand… it’s bad luck for me. So allow me to remove my hand first, okay?

This competition is fierce!

Oh my gosh! It’s been less than 24 hours since I announced the finalists and the response already has been phenomenal!

July 14, 2008 Stats from FreeWedding

As you can see from the photo above, my daily traffic went up almost ten-fold!

This only confirms that these finalists are surrounded by people who truly care for them and want to see them succeed.

From the very beginning of this contest, I didn’t want it to turn into a popularity contest. That’s why I included a “Why” text-box in the vote submissions. More than just having random submissions, I want to hear from you why you feel the couple deserves to win. It’s about quality, not quantity.

With that said, I understand that in the zeal of wanting to see their friends win, some have tried to bloat the vote count by voting multiple times, using all their email accounts, and even making some up. I am touched that you want to do all that you can to help them win. I even got a proxy vote from expectant parents placing a vote for their child, who is still in the womb. While you get points for creativity, I will have to discount that submission… :)

One thing that I appreciate about the finalists is that each finalist took time to think through their story and put it in words that would touch others. The best thing you can do in voting for them is to tell me how their story has touched you and why you genuinely feel they deserve to win.

I’ll end this post with some of the comments I’ve received:

“This is the most beautiful story, and well deserved. This couple is meant for each other. They separately are awesome in their talents and willingness to help others, but together they will be even more AWESOME.. to see such kindness and heartfelt willingness to help others in a young couple these days is unheard of. They always let others’ needs and feelings come first, it is their turn to reap something truly wonderful to happen to them together.”

“Stories like these mean a great deal to us who may not have the kind of love that they share. However, their love brings hopes to us all that someday, somewhere, somehow and with someone we too will find our TRUE LOVE.”

“They are the most deserving couple that I know. Their love is “real” and will last through life’s challenges and barriers. This would make their special day even more special to share with their family, friends, and children.”

“I met [groom-to-be] a couple years ago at a wedding! He is an AWESOME guy with such a great spirit!! I wish him and his fiance a lifetime of happiness together and what better way to capture the day!! “

“These two have to be the most deserving and cutest couple. The way they met, how they fell in love and how still in love they truly are. This kind of love only comes around once in a lifetime and it happened for me almost 20 years ago. I see it in them and I truly believe in them. They have truly been blessed!!!!”

“They truly are a blessed couple that have overcome many hardships through their lives. These defining moments have made them very strong and yet they know their roots.”

“They show others like myself that true love is out there and that it does exist. It makes me hopeful for the future that two people can find each other, fall in love, and want to spend the rest of their lives together.”
