This competition is fierce!

Oh my gosh! It’s been less than 24 hours since I announced the finalists and the response already has been phenomenal!

July 14, 2008 Stats from FreeWedding

As you can see from the photo above, my daily traffic went up almost ten-fold!

This only confirms that these finalists are surrounded by people who truly care for them and want to see them succeed.

From the very beginning of this contest, I didn’t want it to turn into a popularity contest. That’s why I included a “Why” text-box in the vote submissions. More than just having random submissions, I want to hear from you why you feel the couple deserves to win. It’s about quality, not quantity.

With that said, I understand that in the zeal of wanting to see their friends win, some have tried to bloat the vote count by voting multiple times, using all their email accounts, and even making some up. I am touched that you want to do all that you can to help them win. I even got a proxy vote from expectant parents placing a vote for their child, who is still in the womb. While you get points for creativity, I will have to discount that submission… :)

One thing that I appreciate about the finalists is that each finalist took time to think through their story and put it in words that would touch others. The best thing you can do in voting for them is to tell me how their story has touched you and why you genuinely feel they deserve to win.

I’ll end this post with some of the comments I’ve received:

“This is the most beautiful story, and well deserved. This couple is meant for each other. They separately are awesome in their talents and willingness to help others, but together they will be even more AWESOME.. to see such kindness and heartfelt willingness to help others in a young couple these days is unheard of. They always let others’ needs and feelings come first, it is their turn to reap something truly wonderful to happen to them together.”

“Stories like these mean a great deal to us who may not have the kind of love that they share. However, their love brings hopes to us all that someday, somewhere, somehow and with someone we too will find our TRUE LOVE.”

“They are the most deserving couple that I know. Their love is “real” and will last through life’s challenges and barriers. This would make their special day even more special to share with their family, friends, and children.”

“I met [groom-to-be] a couple years ago at a wedding! He is an AWESOME guy with such a great spirit!! I wish him and his fiance a lifetime of happiness together and what better way to capture the day!! “

“These two have to be the most deserving and cutest couple. The way they met, how they fell in love and how still in love they truly are. This kind of love only comes around once in a lifetime and it happened for me almost 20 years ago. I see it in them and I truly believe in them. They have truly been blessed!!!!”

“They truly are a blessed couple that have overcome many hardships through their lives. These defining moments have made them very strong and yet they know their roots.”

“They show others like myself that true love is out there and that it does exist. It makes me hopeful for the future that two people can find each other, fall in love, and want to spend the rest of their lives together.”

    Hi Peter!

Lester and I are working on a new wedding website. It’s not ready yet, but you can check it out here.

Also, since so many people have been asking about Lester’s nephew, they can find out more here.

I met Debbie first, at a turmultuous time in my life. It was soooo easy to have a “crush” on her…and I did :-) and found out there was a line :0) She is wise beyond her years and so giving and tender. I was so impressed how (through prayer) God was able to show her “where I was” and give her discernment on how to be a “friend” to me when I surely wanted more. That was “wisdom from above” because I went on to meet my wife Anica! I’d finally had a chance to sit with Ryan at a men’s gathering (fire, cigars, snacks…:-0). You could see right then that He was “the missing component” for Debbie. Both of their lives center around giving to others. They should win because their story of Love will extend far beyond normal boundaries, to affect those we don’t know and cannot see now…and in them receiving this “gift” from Kairos, you will in acuality become part of a “magnificent sharing” of LOVE. Does it get any better?
